Bhubaneswar Regional Centre History and its Achievements

- Established in 1986 and started functioning in a rented building.
- Constructed its RC building in a lush green campus and shifted in 1999.
- Offering all the academic programmes launched by IGNOU.
- Created a Sub-RC at Koraput, which subsequently converted in to a Regular RC.
- Registered consistent increase of enrolment over the years.
- Enrolment of disadvantage group increased to 19%.
- Awarded with Gold Medal for Best Support Services for the year 2004.
- State of art RC Lab to support Computer Education Programmes.
- Designing and Developing region specific need based programmes.
- Out reach in rural areas increased to 48.2%.
- Female Enrolment in the region touches to 39.86%.
- Growth of Learner Centres in the region by 29% during 2006 over 2005.
- Offering OMT-101 (Revised BPP) in Oriya Medium from January 2007 Session.
- Increase in receipt towards collection of fees by 22% during 2005-06 over 2004-05.
- Membership in Inter-Media Coordination Committee of the State for promotion of IGNOU Programmes.
- Permission by Govt. of Orissa to popularize the Vocational Programmes in the Colleges and Universities in the State.
- Establishment of self-supported online Information Counter (My Counter) for learners at the R.C.
